Kendra Apple, LPC
I bring over 30 years of combined experience in biology, secondary education, child development, ministry, and psychology into my wholehearted work as a therapist.
I have counseled those in crisis and in need of a high level of care. I have worked with adults, marriages, families, and teens addressing a wide range of issues, including trauma, anxiety, depression, family conflict, grief and loss, life transitions and parenting challenges. Most recently, I worked at Meier Clinics Catalyst, a Christ-centered partial hospitalization/intensive outpatient mental health program.
As a Christian counselor, faith guides my practice. Drawing on my educational, clinical and life experience, I examine the whole person – body, mind and soul. I am especially passionate to hear each person’s individual story, identify their needs and strengths, and work collaboratively with them to find strategies that give a greater sense of identity, purpose and growth.
I bring a unique perspective to therapy. Through my own journey of making sense of my growing up years, my identity as a woman, my role as a wife and mother raising two adult sons and a daughter, a mother-in-law to two, and a grandmother to five, I have a broad range of life experience. This life experience allows me to help individuals, couples, and families gain insight, reorganize their own experiences, and create new patterns of dealing with the challenges they face in relationships and life. I rely on these experiences to help clients work through relationship and marital issues as well as parenting challenges. I also have a special interest in helping clients navigate matters associated with their faith and spiritual growth.
I meet each person at their specific place of need with empathy and understanding. I deeply value the belief that life change takes place in the context of relationships that are authentic and trustworthy. I employ an integrative approach to counseling that incorporates various evidence-based techniques and interventions tailored to the unique treatment needs of each person and family.
My methods and approach include family systems, attachment, interpersonal neurobiology awareness, and emotional focused techniques. I’m also a certified Prepare-Enrich facilitator (pre-marital/marriage) and trained in EMDR therapy.
