If You are Seeking Christian Counseling…

“He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.” Jeremiah 17:8

Trees are often a metaphor representing strength, endurance, and longevity of life. We cannot go through life without facing trials of some kind, whether its struggling with addiction, resentment, loss, loneliness, insecurities, broken relationships, shame, or guilt. When we experience intense pain, overwhelming sadness or crippling anxiety, there is a foundation that can hold us steady and keep us grounded. Just as the tree that experiences slow steady growth with deep roots is able to withstand heavy winds, storms and hurricanes, those who are firmly rooted in Jesus as the source of life and healing will be nourished and restored.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

It is in giving our burdens to Jesus that we find true rest, and as a result true strength. As the tree planted by streams of water “does not fear when heat comes,” so does the one rooted in Jesus have peace when troubles and trials come. He helps us to live lives that overflow with peace, thankfulness, and joy, despite circumstances. Lives that show God's beauty and love.

Therapy can help you make sense of the how and why of the burdens and brokenness and also learn healthy ways to be stronger moving forward. I will bring all the training and skills I have to our times together, to the best of my ability. And at the same time, I will rely on Jesus to heal you and affect real and lasting change in your life.

We are all works in progress. It would be my privilege to walk with you as you find the peace, purpose, and freedom you were made for.

“The first task of seeking guidance then is to touch your own struggles, doubts, and insecurities – in short, to affirm your life as a quest. Your life, my life, is given graciously by God. Our lives are not problems to be solved but journeys to be taken with Jesus as our friend and finest guide.”
